The Department of Sport and Entertainment Management at the University of South Carolina invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate will have a terminal degree (PhD, DMA, MFA) in a relevant area of scholarship by the beginning date of employment, and have primary teaching and research interests in Entertainment Management.
The successful candidate will have an active research agenda with a demonstrated ability to produce high quality research in premier outlets (or equivalent creative activities/demonstrations), the ability to teach in the critical areas (introduction to live entertainment management, promoting entertainment events, entertainment marketing, and/or event management); potential to bring national/international recognition to the program, extensive industry contacts, strong leadership skills and a commitment to student success commensurate with building the premier program in sport and entertainment management. In addition to research and teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will also be expected to offer valued service to the department, college, university or profession, as well as engage in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
The Department of Sport and Entertainment Management offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees and has approximately 1,200 undergraduate students, 80 master’s students, and 17 doctoral students. With twenty-two full-time faculty members and two staff members, the department is widely considered to be among the best programs in the nation as a result of its unique comprehensive sport and entertainment business curriculum and meaningful partnerships with the sport and entertainment industry. The Department hosts the Sport, Entertainment, and Venues Tomorrow conference, houses a chapter of CMA EDU, and has featured many industry professionals and artists as classroom speakers.
