Term Faculty Position In Business & Entertainment

Department of Management, Kogod School of Business

The Management Department at the Kogod School of Business, American University, invites applications and nominations for a full-time term faculty appointment in the Management Department, in the area of business and entertainment, to begin Fall semester 2022. The position is conditional on final authorization. We welcome applications from scholarly and other professional backgrounds in line with the position needs. Ideal candidates will have (1) earned graduate or terminal degree from a nationally accredited institution in Business or Law as it relates to an area of the entertainment industry; (2) Have leadership experience in Film, Television, Music or other area of the entertainment industry; (3) Have teaching experience at the University level or demonstrated commitment to mentorship and teaching through guest lectures, conference participation, or other thought leadership; (4) Be dedicated to providing guidance and assistance to students seeking internships and/or jobs in the entertainment industry; and (5) a commitment to collegiality, good citizenship and service to the program. Experience in curriculum development preferred but not required. We are especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and/or service will contribute to the diversity and excellence of Kogod’s academic reputation.

Essential qualifications include:

• Ph.D., MBA, JD, or related graduate or terminal degree in disciplines related to the entertainment industry, copyright or business.

• Strong commitment to high-quality pedagogy, including familiarity in teaching content, methods, and instructional technology

• Potential for effective teaching at all levels, particularly with undergraduate students

• Demonstrated collegiality, good citizenship, and professional background

Responsibilities include:

• High quality undergraduate teaching

• Currency in the scholarly basis of teaching areas

• Participation in department, school, university, and professional activities
