The Department of Entertainment Industry in the College of Arts, Sciences, & Engineering invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Entertainment Industry beginning August 2024. Located in the Shoals – renowned for its rich musical heritage and iconic studios that continue to attract legendary artists, shaping the sound and evolution of music – we are seeking a colleague to contribute to a dynamic and unique department. Essential Job Duties

The standard teaching load is twelve (12) credit hours per semester. The ideal candidate will be capable of teaching courses in multiple areas, with preference given to individuals who can teach multiple courses from the following: copyright law, artist management, music publishing, record label operations, and/or production techniques. The successful candidate should also be proficient in ProTools and other relevant software.

Our new colleague will also serve as a faculty advisor and mentor, actively supporting and guiding undergraduate students pursuing careers in the entertainment industry. The successful candidate will be instrumental in student

recruitment, retention, and alumni engagement activities, and will make service contributions to the department and within the School of the Arts. We expect a strong commitment to diversity in all areas of learning and engagement. This includes regular, positive collaboration with colleagues, producing scholarship and creative works, and contributing to the university and professional community.

Minimum Qualifications

A terminal degree in a discipline related to the entertainment industry is required. ABD candidates may be considered, provided the doctorate will be complete at the time of the appointment. University-level teaching and industry experience is preferred.
