The University of North Alabama’s David and John Briggs Family Department of Entertainment Industry invites applications for Assistant Professor or Lecturer of Entertainment Industry beginning August 15, 2027. This position may be filled as a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor or a Non-Tenure-Track Lecturer, based on the successful candidate’s qualifications. Essential Job Duties
The standard teaching load is twelve (12) credit hours per semester. The ideal candidate will be capable of teaching undergraduate courses in multiple areas of the music business, audio recording, and/or live concert technology. Proficiency in Pro Tools and other DAW software is preferred but not required. Course assignments will take the successful candidate’s experience into account. Professionals and academics with all types of music business or audio technology experience are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain excellence in teaching and develop and maintain an agenda of research and/or creative activities relevant in the field. They will also serve as a faculty advisor and mentor, actively supporting and guiding undergraduate students pursuing careers in the entertainment industry. The successful candidate will be instrumental in student recruitment, retention, and alumni engagement activities, and will make service contributions to the department and within the School of the Arts.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants for the tenure-track, assistant professor level must hold a terminal degree in a discipline related to the entertainment industry. ABD candidates close to completion of a doctorate or applicants who hold a master’s degree in a related field and appropriate teaching and professional experience will be considered for the position, but at the rank of lecturer in a non-tenure-track appointment. University-level teaching and industry experience is preferred.

If any of your graduate hours in the relevant teaching discipline are taken from a degree(s) that is not your highest attained, a transcript of that degree(s) must also be submitted.
